PETER OVTCHAROV

Born in St. Peterburg into a family of a prominent Russian filmmaker, pianist Peter Ovtcharov resides now in Salzburg, Austria. At 15 he was a Silver Medal winner at the III International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Artists.

Hailed by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as a “mature musician, who mastered to perfection the art of colourful nuances,” Mr. Ovtcharov has performed to standing ovations in many prestigious halls in Europe and Asia with famous orchestras such as Radio Vienna Symphonic Orchestra, Members of Munich Philharmonic, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Magdeburg Philharmonic, Augsburg Philharmonic, Bruckner Orchestra, to name only a few.

Mr. Ovtcharov’s outstanding talent has won him numerous grants and awards such as Salzburg Art Foundation, the Chopin Society of Hannover, the “Bosendorfer” prize, stipend of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation in Vienna as well as a Special Stipend for Young Artists granted by the Austrian Government, Peter Ovtcharov won the First Prize at the “Gradus ad Parnassum” Piano Competition in Austria in 2004 and became a laureate of the prestigious International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 2005, being the only Russian pianist chosen by the jury to participate in this competition out of more than two hundred contestants.

Mr. Ovtcharov has several CDs to his credit. In 2004 he has recorded all Etudes-Tableaux by S. Rachmaninoff. His double disk of all 58 Mazurkas by F. Chopin appeared in 2006. In October 2006 Sueddeutsche Zeitung chose this CD as a “CD of the month.”

Since 2005 Peter Ovtcharov is a permanent guest artist at the famous European Festival “Kissinger Sommer.” He also frequently performs in the cycle “Winners & Masters” in Munich Philharmony and International Foundation Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 2006, “The Mozart’s Year,” he was representing Mozarteum on a tour of China and Japan.

Since 2007 Peter Ovtcharov performs in a duo with young Austrian cellist Adrian Brendel, the son of the world-renowned pianist Alfred Brendel.

Since 2009, Peter Ovtcharov is a guest professor of the Summer Academy “Allegro Vivo” in Horn, Lower Austria.

Most recently, Mr Ovtcharov received a degree in Music Business Management.
